A year at our school

Extra-Curricular Activities

We are excited each year to offer our students the opportunities to audition for our extra-curricular performing arts groups.

The performing arts groups we have at York Public School are:

  • Senior Dance Group (Year 5 & 6 students)
  • Junior Dance Group (Year 3 & 4 students)
  • Infants Dance Group (Year 1 & 2 students)
  • Choir Group
  • Band (Teaching Services Australia - enrol.teachingservices.com.au )

Playground Equipment and Outdoor Spaces

On our expansive school grounds we have many outdoor spaces to cater to our students.

The playground equipment and outdoor spaces are:

  • Pirate Ship
  • Sand Pit
  • Climbing Equipment
  • Basketball Court
  • Handball Courts
  • Playing fields
  • Chicken pen and vegetable garden
  • RISE outdoor garden and peaceful place
  • Grandpa's Garden
  • Yarning circle

Excursions, Incursions and Camps

Each year our students are given the opportunity to learn outside the classroom with all grades attending excursions and incursions to complement their subjects.

We offer camps to our Year 5 and 6 students each year.

Our Year 5 students attend an overnight Sport and Recreation camp.

Our Year 6 students visit Canberra and the Snowy mountains for a 3 day / 2 night camp.

Fundraising Events

At York Public School we hold regular fundraising events, during 2025 we held the following events:

  • Year 6 Sausage Sizzle
  • Student Voice Spider Drink Day
  • Stewart House Pyjama Day
  • Year 6 McDonald's night
  • Year 5 & 6 Bake Sale
  • Student Voice Halloween Disco

We've been part of the York Public School Community for the past 8 years and couldn't be happier. The dedicated teachers, supportive staff and amazing leadership from Mrs Robins creates a positive difference. The school makes learning exciting and brings all Yorkies together through fun, inclusive events — parent of a Year 6 York Public School student
